오늘은 '~해 봤자 소용이 없다, ~할 필요가 없다'라는 뜻을 지닌

문법에 대해 공부해 보겠습니다!

 

 

 

there is no point in -ing  ~해 봤자 소용이 없다

 

 

~해 봐야 소용없다, 의미 없다,

~할 이유가 없다, 필요가 없다,

라는 뜻으로

 

it's not worth / it's useless  뜻을 지니고 있습니다.

 

아래 예문으로 공부해 보겠습니다!

 

 

We all know that, so there's no point in talking about it.

다들 아는 거라, 말할 필요는 없다.

 

There’s no point in having a car if you never use it.

네가 사용하지 않을 거면, 무슨 소용이야!

 

There was no point in waiting any longer, so we left.

더 이상 기다릴 필요가 없어서, 우리는 떠났다.

 

There's really no point in doing anything in life.

산다는 것은 아무런 의미가 없다.

 

There's no point in trying to place the blame.

지금 와서 잘잘못을 따진 들 소용이 없다.

 

 

 

There is no point in complaining. I don't wat to make others uncomfortable by complaining.

불평해 봤자 뭔 소용이 있나요, 불평해서 다른 사람들을 불편하게 하고 싶지 않아요.

 

Just because I complain doesn't mean it makes any differences.

I don't want to wait in line outside on a cold day by getting up at 5 a.m.

몇 시간 동안 기다리는 게 무슨 소용 있나요?

새벽 5시에 일어나서 추운 날씨에 밖에서 줄 서서 기다리고 싶진 않아요.

 

Just because a bunch of people say this restaurant is a hidden restaurant doesn't mean I will think like that.

단지 많은 사람들이 이 식당은 맛집이야 라고 해서 저 또한 그렇게 생각할 거라는 건 아니잖아요.

 

 

 

비슷한 표현으로는

there's no reason to + 동사원형  ~할 이유가 없다

라는 문형이 있습니다.

 

There's no reason to wait in line anymore.

더 이상 기다릴 이유가 없다.

 

There's no reason to say that.

그런 말을 할 이유가 없다.

 

There's no reason to take a risk.

위험을 감수할 이유가 없다.
